Imagine replacing the country name from Japan to China, and what would be the US and its western allies’ reactions? What an amazing double standard here??? And the Japanese government never ever releases the content of radioactive isotopes in the treated water other than tritium, if their contents are really ‘negligible’, why not invite scientists to monitor and publish the results?

Japan can use treated radioactive water to build swimming pools, onsen and lakes for people/ citizens who wants radiant skin. Test it out for next 20 years or more . Only time will tell what is the outcome.

@TheGardenMG Are the two properties the same? One is just cooling water, and the other is cooling water that has been in contact with nuclear fuel reactors. It’s like one is your bath water and the other is enema water, are they the same?

Twenty years later : This was something done by people in the past, and it has nothing to do with us now. We are also victims (sobbing).
Fifty years later • : Radioactive wastewater?
What radioactive wastewater? There was no such thing as radioactive wastewater in history!

Western countries have remained silent. Why aren’t they condemning Japan? If this was done by China, or any other asian countries the whole world would probably be condemning it. This is a classic case of double standards.

Japan is nuclear contaminated water, which is in direct contact with nuclear reactor cores.
Other countries are nuclear wastewater, and there is no direct contact with nuclear reactor cores.
This is the difference between nuclear polluted water and nuclear wastewater.

What angers me the most, is that the Japanese government has increased it’s military budget to 2.1% of its’ GDP, while a fraction of such budget could have gone to fix this disastrous contaminated water instead of releasing into open ocean.

I don’t understand why people even talking about whether or not it safe or not safe, anyone with half a brain will know it unsafe. It is just like a person pissing into a bucket full of swimming pool water and then dump it into the pool rather than directly pissing into the pool, there are no different.
